Bu çalışmanın amacı, STEM etkinliklerinin 8.sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimsel süreç becerilerine, bilimsel epistemolojik inançlarına ve fen başarılarına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırma, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırma, Adıyaman iline bağlı bir devlet okulunda 8.sınıfta öğrenim gören uygun örnekleme ile seçilen 32 öğrencinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu öğrencilerin 18’i deney, 14’ü kontrol grubunda yer almaktadır. Deney grubunda öğretim STEM etkinlikleri ile desteklenen yapılandırmacı öğrenme yaklaşımı ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada verileri toplamak amacıyla “Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri Testi” ve “Bilimsel Epistemolojik İnançlar Ölçeği” ve “Fen Başarı Testi” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, bilimsel süreç becerileri açısından, deney grubunun ön test-son test puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu tespit edilirken, kontrol grubunun ön test-son test puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca deney ve kontrol gruplarının bilimsel süreç becerisi son test puanlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Bilimsel epistemolojik inanç açısından ise deney grubu ve kontrol grubunun ön test-son test puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin fen başarıları açısından da grupların ön test-son test puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda STEM etkinliklerinin 8. Sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimsel süreç becerilerini katkısı nedeniyle fen bilimleri derslerinin STEM etkinlikleriyle yürütülmesi önerilebilir.
The aim of this study is to study the impact of STEM activities on the scientific process skills, scientific epistemological beliefs and scientific achievements of 8th grade students. The research was carried out using a semi-experimental pattern of the pre-test-final test control group of quantum research methods. The study was conducted with the participation of 32 students selected with the appropriate sample that was studied in 8th grade in a state school in the province of Namyaman. 18 of these students are in the experiment, and 14 are in the control group. The teaching in the experimental group is carried out with a structured learning approach supported by STEM activities. For the purpose of collecting data, the research used the "Scientific Process Skills Test" and the "Scientific Epistemological Faith Scale" and the "Fen Success Test". According to the findings obtained from the research, in terms of the scientific process skills, the experimental group found that there was a statistically significant difference between the pre-test-final test points, while the control group found that there was no significant difference between the pre-test-final test points. It has also been found that the scientific process skills of the experiment and control groups have no statistically significant differences in the last test points. According to scientific epistemological beliefs, there is no statistically significant difference between the test group and the control group’s pre-test-final test points. There is no significant difference between the students’ advance test and final test scores. In accordance with the results obtained by the STEM activities 8. Due to the contribution of class students to the scientific process skills, science courses may be recommended to be conducted with STEM activities.
