Abstract:

The teaching methods or techniques applied in graphic design training are important because students are effective in solving design problems and developing their designs. A graphic design product that will be produced in this way is decisive in successful communication with the target audience. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new teaching approaches to enhance the success of design students at higher education level that will be able to meet today’s design needs. In this way, students may be able to the desired level of success in their professions by developing their abilities. Today’s design education requires new approaches that support the communication elements of the age, in terms of teaching methods, and motivate students’ visual thinking and analytical thinking skills. Accordingly, the problem phrase of the research is organized as follows: in higher education, can a comprehensive teaching approach be applied in today's graphic design education that will support students to solve graphic design problems through analytical thinking and allow them to develop their design products? This study was done with the "document examination" model. This model includes the analysis of the relevant materials according to the research problem. According to the data obtained from the research, the need to develop the methods applied in graphic design training, especially in the direction of analytical thinking, according to the conditions of the day. Based on this conclusion, the conclusion was made that it was possible to develop a new teaching approach, in which the elements of existing teaching methods that match the present conditions could be addressed by a comprehensive approach, and in this regard it was proposed.
