Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the life positions of parents in terms of various variables and to discuss the findings in the context of transactional analysis. The research is designed according to the scanning model and cross-sectional survey design. The study group included 212 parents formed who have children aged 0-18 years. The study group was determined by simple random method. The demographic information form developed by the researchers and the Life Positions Scale adapted to Turkish by Isgor, Kaygusuz, Ozpolat (2012) were used to obtain the appropriate data. (ANOVA) in cases where more than two groups are compared according to normality test results, Tukey test where there is a significant difference between means Mann-Whitney-U test was used in the two groups. As a result, it was found that there are significant differences in favour of undergraduate graduates in the I'm OK life position, where the life position of the parents is you're OK differed significantly by age. In addition, I'm not OK life position, there are meaningful differences in favor of parents who work in life positions, while parents are known to have meaningful differences in terms of satisfaction in their work life, in favor of high level of satisfaction in life positions I'm OK and you're OK. According to the satisfaction level of the parents’ communication with their children, I’m OK in the life position revealed a significant difference in favor of high level of satisfaction. According to the satisfaction level of the parents' communication with their parents, it is determined that there is a meaningful difference in favor of high level of satisfaction in I'm OK life position.
