Bireylerin sosyal hayatları içinde kurmuş oldukları ilişkilerin kalitelerini belirleyen içsel ve dışsal süreçler bulunmaktadır. Bireyleri etkileyen en önemli faktörlerden ikisi algıladıkları sosyal destek ve sosyal yeterlik düzeyleridir. Bireyler günlük hayatında yaşamış oldukları yaşantısal zorluklar ile mücadele edebilmek için çeşitli psikolojik desteklere ihtiyaç duymaktadırlar. Bu ihtiyaçların en başında sosyal destek kavramı gelmektedir (Traş ve Arslan, 2013). Bireyin yaşamış olduğu stres durumları ile başa çıkarken, olumsuz yaşam koşulları ile mücadele ederken veya hayatı için önemli kararlar verirken etrafındaki sosyal ağlarından edindiği psikolojik ve sosyal destek kaynakları algılanan sosyal destek olarak tanımlanabilir (Yıldırım, 1997). Bireylerin sosyal ortamdaki davranışlarını ve iletişim biçimlerini belirleyen diğer bir etmen ise sosyal yeterlik düzeyleridir. Toplumsal bir varlık olan insanların davranışları dış faktörlerden şekilleniyor gibi gözükse bile asıl belirleyici olan bireyin kendi yeterliklerine olan inanç düzeyidir. Sosyal yeterlik kavramı, bireyin sosyal ortamlarda ilişki başlatma, sürdürme ve iletişim ağları kurabilme becerilerine ilişkin inancının bulunduğu psikolojik bir alandır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, eğitim fakültesi öğrencilerinin algıladıkları sosyal destek düzeyleri ile sosyal yeterlik düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu tabakalı örnekleme yöntemiyle çalışmaya dâhil edilen Türkiye’de Orta Karadeniz bölgesindeki bir üniversitenin eğitim fakültesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 468 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri kişisel bilgi formu, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği, Sosyal Yeterlik ve Sosyal Sonuç Beklentisi Ölçeği aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, eğitim fakültesi öğrencilerinin algıladıkları sosyal destek ve sosyal yeterlik düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu; algıladıkları sosyal destek toplam puanları ile aile, arkadaş ve özel bir kişi alt boyutlarından alınan puanları arasında düşük düzeyde anlamlı ve pozitif yönde bir ilişki bulunduğu ve algıladıkları aile, arkadaş ve özel bir kişi alt boyutlarındaki sosyal destek düzeyinin eğitim fakültesi öğrencilerinin sosyal yeterlik düzeylerinin anlamlı birer yordayıcısı olduğu belirlenmiştir.
There are internal and external processes that determine the quality of the relationships that individuals establish in their social lives. Two of the most important factors affecting individuals are the social support and social capacity levels they perceive. Individuals need a variety of psychological support to cope with the life challenges they have experienced in their daily lives. In the beginning of these needs comes the concept of social support (Traş and Arslan, 2013). The source of psychological and social support that a person receives from the social networks around him when dealing with the stressful situations he has experienced, fighting with negative living conditions or making important decisions for his life can be defined as social support perceived (Ray, 1997). Another factor that determines the behavior and forms of communication of individuals in the social environment is the levels of social capacity. Even if the behavior of people who are a social being appears to be formed by external factors, the main determinant is the level of belief in the individual’s own abilities. The concept of social capacity is a psychological field where the individual believes in the ability to start, maintain and establish communication networks in social environments. The aim of this study is to study the relationship between the levels of social support that educational faculty students perceive and the levels of social qualification. The study’s work group is comprised of 468 students who are studying at the educational faculty of an university in the Middle Black Sea region in Turkey, which is included in the study by layer sampling method. The research data was collected through the personal information form, the Multi-Dimensional Detected Social Support Scale, the Social Qualification and the Social Result Expectation Scale. The study found that the social support and social qualification levels that educational faculty students perceive are high; that there is a low-level meaningful and positive relationship between the total social support points that they perceive and the social qualification points that they perceive from the family, friends and subdimensions of a private person, and that the social support levels in the subdimensions of the family, friends and subdimensions of a private person that they perceive are a significant contributor to the social qualification levels of educational faculty students.
