Abstract:

Studies about post-truth, especially increased when this concept added in Oxford dictionaries in November 2016. One of these studies and writing by Murat Uluk; the book "The New Media and Fake News" contributes to the literature with its section focusing especially on fact-checking platforms. In this book, starting with the development of new communication technologies and addressing new media and fake news concepts, Uluk, discusses the function of new media platforms in the post-truth era. The research part of the book, which is also a thesis study, is included in the book. The section entitled "The existence of fake news on the Internet: An review on the example of Teyit.org" in the thesis covers the work done on Teyit.org, a fact-checking platform. These related studies are contained in the book as the analysis of fake news. Many different points such as how the fake news emerged with various statistics and the relationship between publisher and advertising have been mentioned.
