Abstract:

The European Union (EU) has shown growth in the population and land area since its first date to date. With these expansions, new responsibilities and new problems have begun to arise. The EU’s biggest problem that has been ongoing for years is the energy problem and the dependence of the new problem on Russia’s energy policy. In this context, the EU has entered into the search for new alternative energy sources to reduce Russian energy dependence. Russia is a new energy market that could create an alternative to energy dependency or reduce Russian energy dependency, while the Middle East and the Hazar Bay countries are seen as a new energy market. While realizing the energy relations of the Middle East and the Hazar region, Turkey, which is in its central position in the region, plays a major role in transporting energy to the EU. In this direction, the TANAP project for the transport of Azerbaijan natural gas to the EU through Turkey has begun to be discussed. The TANAP project is an important project for the EU to reduce both the Russian energy dependence and the Hazar energy pool to make the natural gas transfer to the EU countries. This project is trying to realize the Turkish Stream project that will pass through Turkey in the context of not losing its influence on the energy market and developing its energy projects. The study aims to analyze the energy policies of Turkmenistan as a new energy supplier in the context of the energy needs that are of great importance for the EU countries - TANAP, Turkish Stream. The study will be examined by the subject analysis method by addressing the principles of the theory of mutual dependence. According to the results of the study, the development of the EU, TANAP and other similar alternative projects has shown that even if it does not completely get rid of Russian energy dependency, it can reduce the dependency even a bit.
