Engelli bir çocuğun dünyaya gelmesi aile üyelerinin tüm yaşamını etkilemekte ve değiştirmektedir. Çocuğun engelli olması ile anne-baba hayal kırıklığı yaşamakta, ne yapacaklarını ve çocukları ile nasıl yaşayacaklarını bilememektedir. Ailelerin yaşadığı sorunların başında psiko-sosyal ve ekonomik sorunlar gelmektedir. Sosyal hizmet mesleği bütüncül bir yaklaşımla ailelerin yaşadıkları bu sorunları önleyerek bu sorunlara çözüm bulmak çabasındadır. Bu bağlamda sosyal hizmet uygulamasının amacı engelli çocuğu olan ailelerin psiko-sosyal ve ekonomik işlevselliğine vurgu yapmaktır. Engelli çocuğu olan ailelerin ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda hak temelli olarak yapılan sosyal hizmet uygulamaları desteklenme süreçlerinde aileleri güçlendirici etken olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı da ailelerin desteklenme süreçlerinde sosyal hizmet uygulamasının önemini vurgulamaktır. Bu kapsamda ailelerin kabullenme sürecini kolaylaştırıcı ve annelerin bakım yükünü azaltıcı hizmetlere ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
The birth of a disabled child affects and changes the whole life of family members. When the child is disabled, parents are disappointed, they don’t know what to do and how to live with their children. The problems of the family are psycho-social and economic problems. The social service profession is a comprehensive approach to finding solutions to these problems by avoiding the problems that families experience. In this context, the purpose of the social service practice is to emphasize the psycho-social and economic functionality of families with disabled children. In the process of supporting the social services practices based on the rights of families with disabilities, families are faced as a strengthening factor. The aim of this study is to emphasize the importance of social services in the supporting processes of families. In this context, services are needed to facilitate the process of acceptance of families and to reduce the care burden of mothers.
