Abstract:

The assessment of the performance of is of great importance for to maintain their existence and to continue their activities in the future. One of the most important performance indicators in is financial performance. The objective of this study is to evaluate the financial performance of the "Istanbul Bus Enterprises Trade Anonymous Company" (Otobus AŞ), which has been operating in the urban public transport sector in Istanbul since 2007. For this purpose, literature scan was first done to identify the variables used in the assessment of financial performance with multi-critical decision-making methods. As a result of the literature scan, the criteria commonly used in the assessment of the financial performance of companies have been identified and used in the analysis. These criteria are: “current rate”, “licidity rate/acidity test rate”, “current rate”, “active turn rate”, “receive turn rate”, “self-source turn rate=net sales/self-source”, “gross debt rate”, “long-term debt/self-source ratio”, “short-term debt/self-source ratio”, “short-term debt/self-source ratio”, “self-source/self-source assets”, “net profit/net sales”, “asset profitability ratio”, and “self-source profitability ratio”. The analysis of the data for the period 2011-2018 used the CRITIC and TOPSIS methods. It is determined by the CRITIC method that allows the criteria used in the analysis to objectively determine the importance degrees. The results of the analyses made using the TOPSIS method using the achieved criterion weights have been ranked on the basis of financial performance of the Bus AŞ according to the years. According to the CRITIC-based TOPSIS method, the bus has been found to have the highest financial performance in 2014.
