Abstract:

In this study, the aim is to determine the impact of educational game-based listening activities on the success of understanding that primary school fourth-class students listen. The universe of study is formed by 97 students of 4th grade in a primary school in the Army Gölköy district in the second period of the 2018-2019 educational year, studying in 4 different branches. The study used the Hearing Understanding Test (DAT) developed by Cloud (2013) to collect data from students. The study used the semi-experimental method of the pre-test-final test control group, the students in the pre-test group, after the pre-test, were given an educational game-based listening training for 9 lessons per week, so that it will be a lesson hour. After experimental studies, the final test was applied to the groups, and it was studied whether there was a meaningful difference between the levels of success to understand that the experimental and control groups are listening. According to the findings obtained, there was no significant difference between the level of success of understanding that the experiment-control groups were listening to, but there was a significant difference between the experiment group’s pre-test and the final test results.
