Cerrahi ortamın teknolojik olarak son derece karmaşık olması ve infeksiyon, yaralanma, tehlikeli maddelerle karşılaşma olasılığı nedeniyle bakım veren sağlık çalışanları ve cerrahi girişim uygulanacak hasta için yüksek risklidir. Bunun yanında ekip ile uzun süreli fiziksel yakınlığı gerektirmesi, yaşamı tehdit eden durumların bulunması ve hızlı karar vermeyi gerektirmesi nedeniyle stresli bir ortamdır. Bu nedenle etik konusu cerrahi hemşireliği açısından ayrı bir önem taşımaktadır. Cerrahide çalışan hemşireler, diğer hemşirelerle benzer nitelikteki etik konularla karşılaşırlar. Bunlar hasta hakları, bilgilendirilmiş izin, kıt kaynakların kullanımı, yaşam kalitesi gibi konulardır. Gerçekte tüm bu konular cerrahi hemşiresinin rollerinde doğal olarak vardır. Cerrahi hemşireliğinde de hemşirelerin sahip olduğu rolleri yerine getirirken etik ilkelere uygun davranması gerekmektedir.
The fact that the surgical environment is highly technologically complex and is a high risk for the health care staff and the patient to be applied surgery due to the possibility of infection, injury, exposure to hazardous substances. In addition, it is a stressful environment because it requires a long-term physical proximity with the team, the existence of life-threatening situations and the need to make quick decisions. Therefore, the ethical subject is of separate importance in terms of surgical nursing. Nurses working in the surgeon are faced with ethical issues of the same quality as other nurses. These are issues such as patient rights, informed leave, the use of poor resources, quality of life. In fact, all of these topics are naturally in the roles of a surgeon. In the surgical nursing, the nurses must also behave in accordance with the ethical principles while performing the roles they have.
