Abstract:

I. Ve II.

Abstract:

The Greek Rebellion, which began in 1821, resulted in the independence of Greece in 1830. The Greeks did not stop at gaining independence and seized every opportunity to take a share of the lands of the weakening Ottoman Empire in the next period. In 1864, England gave the Seven Islands to Greece, which made the Greeks even more hopeful about the land acquisition from the Ottoman Empire. As a result of the events that developed, Greece, which felt the power of the great states from good to good, played an important role in the beginning of the Cretan rebellion in 1866, and the Ottoman State was obliged to give crete the power. Greece, which could not connect Crete to it independently, started to engage in gang activities in Ottoman lands. As a result of such events with the newly established kingdom of Greece, the Ottoman Empire had to declare war on Greece. In consequence of the Dömeke Challenge between Greece and the Ottoman Empire, the Greeks suffered a decisive defeat, but with the help of western states, they were able to turn their defeat into a victory at the diplomatic table. These developments, which took place shortly before the Balkan Wars and World War I, can be regarded as an indication that wars have changed not only on the front line but also at the diplomatic table on the axis of changing balances. The study of this series of events that took place during a period when the empires entered the disintegration process, the analysis of the conditions of the period and the place of the state policies on the chessboard, revealed the importance of understanding how the ambitions of sharing the Ottomans were put on the stage.
