Abstract:

With the recent years of globalization, the rapid changes in information and communication technologies and the increasing complexity of economic and social problems caused by intense competition, the approach to social entrepreneurship has gained great importance as an academic field of research and as an active field of application. The aim of this study is to study the personality characteristics and the effects of social responsibility consciousness on the social entrepreneurial characteristics that determine an individual’s intention to be a social entrepreneur. A qualitative research was designed in accordance with this basic objective and a research was carried out on 692 students who studied at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the University of Gaziantep as well as at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the University of Kilis on December 7. The data obtained within the framework of the research was studied using statistical techniques such as factor analysis, correlation and regression analysis. The findings have shown that personality’s outwardness, conformity, responsibility, emotional balance and development openness characteristics/dimensions and social responsibility consciousness have a significant impact on individual responsibility and social responsibility characteristics/dimensions of social entrepreneurship characteristics/dimensions.
