Abstract:

Today for communication is often used by the phone or the internet while in ancient times the letter was preferred for this purpose. Although it appears as a means of communication, the letter, which begins to serve other purposes over time, strengthens the communication and love bond between persons, enables the expression of feelings and thoughts. The letter, along with the memories, daily and travel writings, also provides the reader with a variety of information about the period. The author speaks about his own life, his family, his feelings, etc., and speaks about social life, the changes that are happening, the events that influence society, and explains his ideas about the subject. He also uses an intimate pattern when doing this. The publication expresses itself clearly in these letters he writes without being concerned. One of the important writers of the period, Sâmiha Ayverdi and an academic who signed valuable studies, Annemarie Schimmel's letters containing the letters-2 book, the perception of a period is presented by two different cultures. It is important in this regard. Because the letters covering the years 1953 and 1991 have a variety of materials in terms of both being aware of their lives and work and understanding the perception of the time they live. It is also possible to see the change of both persons and society due to the prolongation of letters over a long period of time. Based on the letters mentioned in this work, we evaluated Samiha Ayverdi and Annemarie Schimmel’s opinions about each other, what they said about love, what Schimmel’s homeland desire and what they did about.
