Abstract:

The aim of this research is to determine the lifelong learning tendencies of classroom teachers and to compare them with various variables. In the research, the following questions have been answered.1. What is the level of life-long learning tendencies of classroom teachers? 2. Do the lifelong learning attitudes of the teachers differ significantly according to their gender, seniority, level of education, age, and place of work? 3. Is there a meaningful relationship between subscales of the scale? This research is in the instant scanning model. The universe of the research constitutes a total of 1116 classroom teachers who are in primary schools in the centre of Elazığ and its districts in the academic year of 2017-2018. The sample is composed of 291 teachers determined by simple random sampling. In the research, the scale of "Lifelong Learning Trends" (YBÖEÖ) developed by Diker Coşkun and Demirel (2009) is used as data collection tool. According to findings of this study; the life-long learning tendencies of the class teachers are at the level of “partially fits” in the sub-dimensions of motivation, persistence, lack of curiosity and in the whole scale; but in the sub-dimension of lack of regulation of learning at the level of “little fits”. According to the gender variable, in all sub-dimensions, the lifelong learning tendencies of women class teachers are higher than that of men.
