Abstract:

As a result of the geographical location of Turkey and some social events that have evolved in recent period, a large number of migrants have been received. There have been a lot of trouble between the Turkish citizens and the newly arriving migrants. Most of the problems occur in the field of health. The aim of the study in this context is to identify the problems faced by migrants and health workers from the perspective of a group of health workers. The study group consisted of a total of 7 health workers, including 2 doctors, 2 nurses and 3 emergency medical technicians (ATT) working in the emergency service of a state hospital in the northwest of our country and 112 emergency centers. The research was carried out using the phenomenology (event science) design from the quality research methods. In the study, using a semi-configured conversation form as a data collection tool, the data was recorded with the audio recording device. The data collected was analyzed using the visual analysis method. The research resulted in two main topics: "The problems that health workers face" and "The problems that migrants face". Under the main theme "Problems faced by health workers" the sub-themes were the lack of communication, increased workload, the lack of informed approval, privacy breach, empathy failure, the failure to effectively carry out the diagnosis and treatment process, and the social and economic sense of responsibility against migrants. Under the main theme of the "problems the migrants face" the sub-themes of the lack of confidence in health workers, fear of health workers, lack of health insurance, unable to communicate and therefore informed approval, unable to control their privacy were created. The data collected concluded that being a immigrant patient in our country and participating in the health care practices of the immigrant patient is a major biopsycho-social and cultural problem for both immigrants and health workers. The most important factor at the foundation of this problem was the communication obstacle. It may be recommended that the subject be evaluated in more detail with large-scale studies and the creation of new solutions to the problem.
