Abstract:

Little Prince is a literary work written as a long story by French writer and pilot, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1943. In this study, being an important part of children’s literature, Little Prince’s two translated versions into Turkish and Azeri Turkish have been investigated in terms of the use of idioms and proverbs. After the analysis, it has been observed that there are 114 idioms in Azeri Turkish, but 118 in Turkish. There is only one proverb in Turkish translation, but any in the other version. In addition, it has been observed there are numerous reduplications in both versions. Of these reduplications, the majority depends on abstract expressions. Therefore, it is seen that neither of the two versions is appropriate for the children under the age of 11.
