Abstract:

The engineers and designers who were trying to solve the problems during the British Industrial Revolution, expected to take advantage of the unexpected advantages and opportunities of big and fast change. The desire of the industries was to produce very high amounts of products for a large number of people in the most efficient way possible. The theme of sustainability in the design discipline was presented by Papanek about thirty-five years ago; it was emphasized that the responsibility of designers is to respect the basic social and environmental needs. Sustainability is the core of the connection between textile and fashion industries and design. 21 of 21. Until the beginning of the century, in the products supplied by manufacturers and designers to meet their needs, design and innovation have not taken much place together. New resources, information and content sharing will enable new solutions to sustainability. In this study, it reveals today’s “new” design-designer concepts and the relationships with sustainability. The social, cultural, industrial and economic impacts and reflections of sustainability, textile and fashion design are examined; different examples of sustainability application based on design in the textile and fashion industries are studied in a wide range.
