Abstract:

Psychological resistance and self-fiction are two psychological concepts and are discussed separately in literature. This study has studied the relationship between adolescent’s psychological resistance and self-fiction. It has also been discussed whether self-fiction and psychological resistance differ according to gender, mother’s educational level and father’s educational level factors. The universe of the research is composed of 945 adolescents aged 14-18 years who studied in the high schools on the Anadolu side of Istanbul in the 2012-2013 educational year. The study used "Personal Information Form", "Adolescent Psychological Resistance Scale" and "Animal-Relational Self Scale in the Family". The data was analyzed according to the relative scan model. Non-parametric techniques have been used for groups that do not show normal distribution characteristics, and for groups that do not show normal distribution characteristics, parametric techniques have been used. The research finds that although there is a meaningful relationship in the negative direction between psychological resistance and self-conception, there is a meaningful relationship in the positive direction between the relative and self-conception self-conception and psychological resistance. It has also been shown that girls have higher psychological resilience, men are more autonomous, and girls are more relational and autonomous. In the context of the sub-tests, there is a meaningful relationship between autonomy and the EPDÖ-Family support sub-dimensional.
