Women writers have expressed their opinions and thoughts about women and their place in society by addressing the problems of women in their works on every occasion. Fariba Vafi is one of the realist writers of contemporary Iranian literature who tries to express the problems of modern women with a holistic approach and to describe their inner world with a simple and sincere language. She makes the women shape in flesh and bones in the eyes of the readers by presenting some sections of the lives of the women, especially those selected from the middle layer of the society. In her novel My Bird, Vafi starkly reveals a woman's search for identity and her identity crisis in this painstaking search. In this novel, the woman uses her physical and intellectual power to keep up with household chores and perform the clichés of her gender role. The most important thing embodied in the eyes of the reader about this character is the role of a spouse, mother, and son, which includes various tasks such as being a housewife, parent and individual. She is solely responsible for the chores and raising of children inside her house and is therefore aware that life outside the home is not possible for her. In this study, independent individual identity search and identity crisis of woman, who spends all of her time at home, who considers herself as responsible for protecting her family unity and performing her duty of womanhood in the aforementioned novel, will be discussed.
