Abstract:

This study was conducted in a relative scanning model with the aim of identifying the relationship between the value orientations of high school students and the levels of autonomy. The sample of the study consists of 431 students in the 9th and 12th classes of the Anadolu and Professional High Schools in the center of Kayseri province in 2012-2013. The research data was collected with the portrait values scale and the adolescent autonomy scale. The study found that students’ universality and self-orientation values were more accepted, traditionality and conformity values were less accepted. It has also been found that the levels of behavioral autonomy are higher than the levels of emotional autonomy, that the values are different according to gender, school type, class level, mother and father’s education level, that the levels of autonomy and the values of charity, tradition-being and security and both behavioral and emotional autonomy and that the values of power, success, awareness, orientation and universality and behavioral autonomy have a positive meaningful relationship.
