Abstract:

This study aims to determine some characteristics of the parents whose children are repeating the 1st grade of the high school the educational status of the parents the number of siblings the child s rank in the order of birth and their opinions about repeating the 1st grade and their teachers? opinions about these children and the concept of repetition Data were collected from 466 students and 127 teachers For the analysis Chi Square method was used The findings of the research suggest that the mothers of most of the students repeating class are either illiterate or primary school graduates at the most that as the level of education increases the number of the mothers educated at these levels decreases gradually that the number of the illiterate fathers is lower than that of illiterate mothers and that the secondary or high school graduate fathers constitute the majority According to the findings of the study the majority of the students repeating class state that repetition is beneficial for them while most of their teachers do not believe in its benefit
