Abstract:

Investor behaviour and investor profile are two of the crucial factors in analyzing price movements in stock markets. As the quality of investors trading in the stock market increases, it is evident that the operation and price setting in that markets will be more effective and efficient. The aim of this study is to find out the profile of stock market investors in Sanliurfa Province which is one of the most important cities in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey and to present the factors affecting the investors’investment process. For this purpose, the general investor profile in Turkey is presented in the study and characteristics that an investor should have are presented within the framework oftraditional and modern portfolio approaches. Furthermore, results of a questionnaire aimed at defining the profile of investors in Sanliurfa Province are presented, factors affecting stock investments of these investors are observed and the results are interpreted.
