Abstract:

In this study, aiming the implementation of the constructivist theory -which presents a new point of view in pursuit of redefining and redrafting the international relations and emphasizes what is social- on the international public relations and public diplomacy, the effects of the public diplomacy activities carried out by Turkey are tried to be studied from the constructivist perspective.To make the related reading well; the appearance of news about Turkey in USA news has been observed in terms of content analysis by taking the importance of traditional media into account as an important channel in reaching the target country public of public diplomacy activities that country carried out. In this study that was made with the method of field research, categorical content analysis technique has been used.While it has been observed with research indications that there are positive or negative views about Turkey in some news, it has been observed that Turkey takes place indirectly in the news that are generally about battles in Syria. While positive news about Turkey has been economy based, the negative news are generally about terrorist attacks, manifestation movements and freedom of expression.When the indications have been evaluated in terms of constructivist point of view, it has been expressed that important roles are waiting for actors to construct and improve relations by taking the difficulties of creating ‘identity’ union with a society that is in distant geographies, has different cultural norms and have little knowledge about Turkey into account.
