Abstract:

This study intended to determine the relationship between teachers‟ self-leadership levels and their organizational citizenship behaviors. The study utilized relational screening model, a descriptive research method, since it aimed to identify the current situation. “Self-Leadership Scale” by Tabak, Sığrı, Türköz (2012) and “Organizational Leadership Scale” by DiPaola et al., (2007) were used in the study as data collection tools. Spearman correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used in data analysis. Findings point to the fact that levels of organizational citizenship and self-leadership and its sub scales were high. A statistically significant positive relationship was found between teachers‟ organizational citizenship behaviors and the following self-leadership sub scales: behavior-based strategies, natural reward strategies and constructive learning models strategies. These selfleadership sub scales were found to predict organizational citizenship significantly. The following suggestions are provided based on study results: teachers should be encouraged to display their self leadership roles in organizational institutions since increases in teachers‟ organizational citizenship behaviors (teachers‟ voluntary and optional behaviors) are related to selfleadership roles and behaviors. Administrative and organizational structures in which teachers can present their self-leadership roles should be developed.
