Abstract:

Development, especially the rural development, is the most important goal of developing countries. For this purpose, small communities want to improve their economic, social and cultural conditions Agritourism is an important tool in the development of backward regions. In recent years, agritourism has constantly been on the agenda in Turkey as in the world. Countries can achieve significant advantages in rural development depending on having the potential of the tourist supply. Adiyaman's tourism potential is very rich. Its situation has been registered by being a “brand city” in tourism. Having many historical and cultural artifacts, Adiyaman has an important asset in terms of potential supply of agri tourism. As the cıty hosts many artifacts of historical and cultural inheritage as well as an important asset in terms of agritourism it supplies an important potentialin this terms. However, this the fact that agritourism will play an important role in reviving the city’s situation and is not well known, also the fact that this would contribute to its rural development. In this study, agritourism applications’ importance have been dwelled on in rural development of Adiyaman, which is among the provinces having the lowest level of income, and for this purpose agritourism potential of the city has been examined.
