Abstract:

Mahtumkulu, national poet of Turkmenistan, is not only known and popular in Turkmenistan but also known in other Turkish states and communities. The poets poems have been translated into many languages. On the occasion of his 290th anniversary of the birth, a written work called Mahtumkulu Divan has been published involving all of his poems in Turkish too. Mahtumkulu wrote poems to refer the Turkmens who live in scattered tribes hundreds of years but couldn’t set up a regular government to national unity and ideals and he always supported the Turkmen national consciousness with his strings. In this study, it has been tried to reach the conclusions about the philosophy of his life and worldvwiev by examining the poems which he wrote about national, religious – mystical and philosophical issues.
