Abstract:

This research was conducted to determine the factors affecting doing sports of university students. Research is a descriptive study. Phenomenology, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in this research. Convenience sampling which is one of the purposeful sampling methods has been preferred for the research. The population of the study consisted of students who are members of the student community, attending Duzce University in 2013-2014. In this coverage, researcher has reached 35 students who are members of the student community. While collecting the data, interview form method which consists of semi-structured questions has been used. The interviews have been conducted as face to face. The data which were summarized and interpreted in descriptive analysis, have been profoundly processed in the content analysis. After the coding process, theming method has been implemented by gathering the similar data. This process has been executed by independent three researchers who are experts in their fields. In conclusion, the factors affecting doing sports of university students are divided into two titles as individual factors and general factors. Results of the individual factors are time, fee and sports culture has determined. Results of the general factors are promotion, transportation, sports environments and lack of staff has determined
