Abstract:

While there is still an ongoing multi-aspect violation through women in Turkey an even worldwide, it has been observed that women are being deprived from the fundamental human rights. Violation is characterized as a human right infringement that is the collection of behavior includes distortion of emotional and physical integrity resulted with women’s physiologically, emotionally, sexually or psychologically harm; and cannot be justified with any of the political, religious, or cultural reasons. Extant literature and the statistical data acquired through this literature reveal the tragic dimension of this violation. This phenomenon is being seriously observed even in countries which are accepted as developed in terms of women rights, and every one among three women worldwide is being encountered with violation in various ways. In this current study, after a comprehensive theoretical in-depth analysis of violation through women, a research is conducted within İzmir context. İzmir is preferred due to the fact that violation through women in İzmir is being monitored almost every single day, although it has been known as a city that has been internalized democracy and has western standards, and relatively higher conscious regarding women rights. In this context through a focus-group study conducted with five women residing in a shelter house in İzmir, the methods to overcomeviolation through women as well as the legal regulations to prevent the violation and the views on social responsibility campaigns are aimed to be achieved.
