Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the digital addiction levels of students in university and examine them according to various variables. The study was conducted on 1108 students, 653 females and 455 males studying in eight different faculties of Sivas Cumhuriyet University in 2018-2019 academic years during spring semester. In the study, general survey model was used with random sampling method. In order to determine the digital addiction levels of the students, the “Digital Dependency Scale an consisting of five factors and 19 items developed for university students was used. The total reliability of the scale is .88 in this study. Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S), arithmetic average, percentage, independent groups t-test, ANOVA and Tukey analysis techniques were used to analyze the data about the study. As a result of the research, it was determined that the mean scores of digital dependence levels of university students showed significant differences in terms of gender, class level, place of residence, type of high school they graduated and branch variables, but not in terms of the economic status of the parents.
