Abstract:

Leadership is defined as a process of directing the activities of others to their personal or group objectives under certain conditions. Quality leaders are needed in health institutions that need special attention in both technological and human resources. This study was also conducted as an identifying to determine the relationship between clinical leadership levels and academic achievements of nursing graduate students. The examples of the study were made by 300 students who studied in the last class of the Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Erciyes University and who accepted to participate in the study. The data of the study was collected using questions questioning the socio-demographic characteristics and academic achievements of students and the survey form containing the clinical leadership scale. In the analysis of the data, nonparametric tests were used by Mann Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis tests. In the assessment of the interfactor relationships, the Spearman correlation ratio was also used. The study found that the total scores that students received from the clinical leadership scale, which is a liquid type scale of 3, were 2,52±0,28, and the academic scores were 2,85±0,32. It is also found that students who choose their nursing profession voluntarily and their parents with a high level of education have a higher scale of clinical leadership (p<0.05). According to the results of the study, it was recommended to add the subject-related courses to the bachelor and postgraduate curriculum in order to further develop the clinical leadership characteristics of nursing graduate students and to plan leadership-related training and research.
