Kelam ilminin oluşmasında tartışmasız katkıları olan Mutezile, müntesipleri bulunan, yaşayan bir mezhep olma özelliğini kaybetmişse de bazı ilkeleri ve görüşleri halen yaşamaktadır. Tefsir alanında da iz bırakmış olan Mutezili görüş ve yöntemler, bu günün araştırmalarına da konu olmaktadır. Bunlardan birisi de Nasr Hâmid Ebû Zeyd’in Tefsirde Akılcı Eğilim adlı çalışmasıdır.
