Abstract:

It appears to be a concept evaluated along with some new concepts such as patient safety, health rights and patient-focused health services. Patient safety can be expressed in the form of the prevention of errors made depending on health care and the identification of the causes of errors resulting from the provision of health care, reducing or eliminating the patient’s damage. The reduction to medical errors that pose a threat to the safety of the patient, which may cause labor, resources and death loss, is possible with the knowledge of the errors sources. Drug applications errors, hospital infections, surgery errors, falls and pressure ulcers are considered as medical errors that threaten the patient's safety at a high level. This study aims to investigate whether the patient safety attitudes of nurses working at the University of Süleyman Demirel Research Applied Hospital have an impact on the patient safety culture. For this purpose, it is planned to test the hypotheses that "the nurses have a relationship between the patient safety attitudes and the patient safety culture views" and "the nurses' patient safety attitudes have an impact on the patient safety culture". The study was conducted on nurses working at the Suleyman Demirel University Research and Applied Hospital in January and February 2018. The universe of research consists of 341 nurses working at the University of Suleyman Demirel Research and Applied Hospital. 200 nurses agreed to participate in the study with approval and approval. As a data collection tool, the survey form has been used containing "Patient Safety Attitude Scale" and "Patient Safety Culture Scale" and demographic and professional information identification questions. In order to determine the relationship between the patient safety attitudes and subdimensions of the nurse and the culture of the patient safety and subdimensions, the correlation analysis, the regression analysis, in order to determine the effects between the variables, has been applied. According to the analysis, there is a relationship between the patient safety attitudes of nurses and the patient safety culture views, and the patient safety attitudes of nurses have an impact on the patient safety culture.
