Abstract:

When the learning and teaching environments are called outside the school, one of the first places to come to mind is the museums and historical places. When the field is studied, research has been emphasized that these spaces allow students to many achievements, by materializing abstract subjects, providing permanent trace learning in students. Today, when it is considered to be relatively easy to access information, in formal or informal environments, it is believed that giving value and skills to students is becoming even more important. However, the studies on the use of museums and historical spaces in the teaching of value and skills in the field of social information classes are quite limited. In this context, the purpose of the research is to reveal the thoughts and experiences of social information teachers candidates about giving students value and skills in museums and historical places. The research methods are based on basic research methods. The data obtained from the research was obtained from the first stage (view form) 44, second stage (view form) 27, third stage (conversation) 17 teachers candidates who studied in the Erciyes University's Social Information Teaching Program. Qualitative data is analyzed with the help of the Nvivo 11 package program using the visual analysis technique. The study found that teachers’ candidates in the social information course in the museum can be attributed to values such as patriotism, solidarity, responsibility, respect, utility, freedom, independence, independence, laborability, scientificity, aesthetics, sensitivity, tolerance, honesty, love, peace and family unity; empathy, space perception, observation, social participation, time and chronology perception, communication, creative thinking and correct and beautiful use of Turkish.
