In order to be able to write and understand the history correctly, the works written at that time should be brought to light. In addition to archive sources, writing works also play an important role in the investigation of the Ottoman history and the detection and evaluation of hadiths.There are many works on the Cretan expeditions that lasted for a long period of time about 24 years. One of these works is the work of Tevârîh-i Cezîre-i Gird belongs to the Janissary Clerk Hasan Efendi that narrates from beginning to end of Cretan Expedition starting in 1055(M. 1645-46). There are two copies of the work. One of them is registered at 140.B. 1178 in St. Petersburg The Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The other copy is registered at Y. 82 in the Topkapi Palace Library. Tevârîh-i Cezîre-i Girid sheds light on the events during the Cretan War which lasted about a quarter century in the history of the Ottoman Empire. The work begins with the preparations for the campaign to be held in Crete in 1645, which is an important location for the control and security of the Mediterranean. Every single day is included in events such as land and sea battles, events during the war, the status of the fortresses and cities in the conquered places, correspondence during the war, dismissal and appointments until 1669 when the whole island was conquered. In addition to these; agreement terms with Venice after the conquest of Heraklion, the number of martyrs and veterans during the Heraklion expedition, and the amount of spent ammunition are also included in the work.
