Abstract:

This study was conducted to investigate the attitudes of university students towards sexual education and social gender perceptions. The research is characteristic and the sample of the research is made by 364 students studying at the University of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy Bucak Health High School. The data of the study was collected with personal information form, the scale of attitude towards sexual education and the scale of social gender perception.  The research data was collected from students who studied in the 2018-2019 educational year outside the class hours. 62.4% of the students who participated in our study consisted of girls, 73.6% of the nursing department students, 68.1% of the first-class students, and 39.8% of the first-class students. 42% of students stayed in apartments, 17. According to the report, 72.3 percent of those who did not receive sexual training. The scale of social gender perception of girls has been found that the average score is higher than the male students. The scale of girls’ attitude towards sexual education has been found to be higher than the average score of male students. It is also determined that the scale of attitude to sexual education and the scale of social gender perception of students who spend a large part of their lives in the village and towns are lower than the scale of students who spend a large part of their lives in the province and district. As a result, it has been determined that the gender of university students, the class they study, where they stay, the characteristics of the mother and father's profession, the smoking and where they spend much of their lives, and their social gender perception and attitudes towards sexual education are different.
