Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of the teachers on the importance of proof. In a faculty of education, 7 teachers interviewed with teachers who gave evidence-based mathematics courses. The results of the analysis of the views on the importance of spate consisted of 25 categories and these categories were gathered under 5 topics. The first interview was created by the ranking survey and the teachers were asked to rank these topics according to their importance order. As a result, it can be said that the effective reason for teachers to find evidence important is that they think that the evidence contributes to students’ thinking skills. This theme follows, respectively, the themes "contribute to the learning of the theory/theme", "contribute to the promotion of mathematics", "contribute to emotional properties" and finally "contribute to application". The categories that are focused on the importance of spate are mostly parallel to the opinions in literature, while the evidence has shown different opinions as it gives the student confidence and excites.
