The term “narcissism” is based on the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology, who fell in love with his own reflection after seeing it in a pond and died as a result of this insatiable love. Narcissism have taken a significant place within the psychoanalytical theory and thus have been introduced to the psychology literature. Researches on narcissism underline the effect of the emotional neglect experienced from the caregiver in the emerge of the narcissistic core. This traumatic experience underlies the origin of narcissism. This study aims to review the issue of the role of narcissism in the transmission of trauma especially in the light of relationships and forensic proceedings around the question of whether narcissists transfer a similar traumatic experience of their own when their grandiose beliefs of superiority and control, their intolerance against frustration and their lack of respect for others’ needs are taken into consideration altogether.
