Abstract:

The aim of this study is to explore electronic payment systems that are separated from traditional payment systems with the emergence of new technologies. In this context, the concept of e-commerce and the historic development, types, legal infrastructure of electronic payment systems, which are the means of e-commerce, and the world and the practices of Turkey have been explained. In addition, the new varieties of electronic payment systems, especially focused on e-money, e-cash and Bitcoin, have emphasized its advantages, disadvantages and application differences. In this context, this study identifies the effects of these new financial instruments that come into our lives along with technology on monetary policy, marketing management, cash management and risk management. As a result, electronization is considered unpredictable and electronic payment systems should be considered an opportunity and this opportunity should be well assessed. Regulations for consumers to accept these new systems should be made, systems should be introduced and encouraged.
