The research has been conducted with the purpose of determining the level of knowledge on menopause of the housewives who live in Osmaniye and have not experienced menopause . The population of the descriptive research consisted of 249 women who lived in the village of Osmaniye in the district of Alpu in the province of Eskişehir. The sampling of research took 120 women who have not experienced menopause in the 35-45 years age group Research data was collected via face-to-face interviews, with the questionnaire (35 questions) that also included their socio-economic properties. Of the women who participated in the research, 40.9% were between the ages of 42 and 45 and the average age was 39.82 ± 3.89. 92.5% of the women were married, 85.0% were graduates of primary school. Significant relations were detected between the levels of knowledge on menopause and on using contraceptive methods, description of menopause, perception of the level of knowledge factors of stress and cheer and what is to be done in treatment. A weakly significant and a highly significant relation were detected between the women’s level of knowledge menopause and use of contraceptive methods (r=0.22, p<0.05), the women’s level of knowledge on menopause and their perception of the level of knowledge (r=0.95 p<0.01), respectively. As a conclusion, it is satisfactory that the level of knowledge of most of the women on menopause is high; however, the health care personel in the region have very important responsibilities for the women who have no knowledge of menopause. Thus, the health care personel should give more detailed knowledge on menopause to the people of the region.
