Abstract:

It is known that the support of psychotherapy to be taken along with medication in obsessive compulsive disorders has a positive contribution to the healing process. The perception that negative experiences in childhood and the difficulties in the processing point of these experiences can manifest themselves in the negative life events in the future and can cause different psychological disorders in the individual is the basis of the viewpoint of the psychological problems of eye movements and de-sensitivization and re-treatment therapy (EMDR). With this study, the consultation sessions made using the EMDR therapy technique for the individual with obsessive thoughts were summarized. The individual’s problems are written in a general therapeutic planning form and a work paper for each memory is filled. As long as it began with a general promotion of EMDR therapy, it was continued with the implementation of the steps in the EMDR therapy protocol for the purpose of processing memories. After the application, the healing process in the individual has been addressed and in the control session it has been stated that the problem in the individual is reduced, he feels more peaceful. It is believed that it is important to provide positive results in the short term in support of the applicability and functionality of the therapy and in the context of the presentation of a fact that can be benefited in subsequent similar cases.
