Abstract:

As it is known, the phenomenon of poverty is one of the most important issues of economics. According to the criteria discussed, very different definitions of the concept of poverty can be made. According to these definitions, it is tried to explain what kind of problem humanity faces. Poverty can be caused by both economic and human problems. When the sources of the problem are identified, it becomes easier to find solutions, that is, to determine ways of struggle. This study aims to analyze the satisfaction level of the people from the social municipal practices carried out by the Municipality in order to evaluate poverty and combat poverty in Sultanbeyli Municipality, which is the other district of modern Istanbul. For this purpose, a questionnaire with 53 questions was applied to the sample mass (535 people) randomly selected in Sultanbeyli by making face-to-face interviews. The survey results are evaluated by using SPSS 22.0 package program. As a result of the study, it was understood that the most important problem in Sultanbeyli was the property problem. Poverty and economic problems follow. If this problem is overcome, Sultanbeyli is a candidate to be one of the most favorite places in Istanbul. In addition, the people of Sultanbeyli encounter some problems in social municipality practices and state that the municipality is generally dissatisfied because it cannot keep up with change and development.
