Abstract:

When the foreign policy of Turkey is examined, it can be said that the period changes. The active foreign policy of Turkey, a member of NATO, which began with the Özal Period, appears to have entered a new process along with the power of the Justice and Development Party (AK). It is possible to see the traces of this approach to foreign policy not only in Europe and in Central Asia after the Cold War, but also in the Middle East. Since two thousand years, the development of the Turkish-Egyptian relations has had a significant impact on Turkey’s regional policies as well as the developments in Egypt. Indeed, these relationships began to develop in the Hüsnü Mubarak Period. Relations between the two countries, according to the results of the elections after the Revolution, have also gained impulse with the arrival of the Party of Freedom and Justice near the Islamic/Muslim Brotherhood Organization. But the military coup against the democratically elected government of Egypt and the strong reaction of Turkey to it have brought the two countries to a stop. The recent warming developments in the Eastern Mediterranean have confirmed that after about eight years of interruption, the rebuilding of the Turkish-Egyptian relations is more than a priority for both countries. However, in the course of the development of the relations between the two countries, the steps taken by the Turkish and Egyptian sides should be taken into account as well as the regional and global forces as always are effective.
