Abstract:

Urban furniture is indispensable accessories of cities. It is an inseparable urban element for the urban residents and the city. It should be aesthetic and functional by adhering to the identity and cultural texture of the city. Its design should provide the quality of life and contribute the sustainability of the city. In this investigation, the observation and detection method was applied. Urban furniture in Burdur Cumhuriyet Square were evaluated in terms of whether they consist of functional, ergonomic, safe, durable, environmentally compatible, suitable materials, esthetic, easy to maintain and understandable designs. It was found that Burdur Cumhuriyet Square is partially compatible with urban furniture, some of them are not functionally or ergonomically adequate and some of them are not maintained and repaired. In the furniture in the study area, it is required to choose suitable material by following the necessary maintenance and repair activities to respond to the user's needs and to fulfill their functions.
