The aim of this study is to study the sources of foreign language communication anxiety and their perceptions of non-English Turkish academics working at the public universities in Turkey at international scientific meetings. As an example of the study, 44 volunteer academics (20 women and 24 men) were selected from two universities in Turkey. Nicel research method used in this study data were collected with the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale (Horwitz, et al., 1986) and the Personal Communication Anxiety Reporting Scale (McCroskey, 1982) . Quantitative data is collected from scales of anxiety and communication fear while qualitative data is obtained from profile form and face-to-face conversations. Research findings have shown that although women experience higher concerns, academics do not have a significant difference in communication and foreign language concerns according to gender variables.
This study aims to investigate the sources of communication apprehension in foreign language experienced by Turkish academics working at state universities (e.g., non-native speakers of English) in international academic meetings and their perceptions towards this matter. As the sample of the study, 44 (20 females and 24 males) participants were selected from voluntary academics from two universities. Using the quantitative research design, the data were collected by the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale (Horwitz, Horwitz, & Cope, 1986) and Personal Communication Fear Scale (McCroskey, 1982). The results indicated that although female participants have higher levels of FLA than male participants, there were no significant differences by genders.
