Abstract:

The universities are located at the top of the educational stage where higher education activities are carried out. In addition to their educational and educational activities, universities play an important role in the development of the settlements and regions in which they are located, in the restoration of the economy, in the development of social and cultural activities. There are a total of 21 universities in the Black Sea Region, including 20 state and 1 foundation. There’s a “university” in each district. However, there are 2 universities in Samsun and 3 universities in Trabzon. 76% of the 21 universities located in the region have been founded after 2006. In this study, literary scans of studies related to the universities in the Black Sea Region and the cities in which these universities are located were carried out. Later, the distribution of universities in the Black Sea Region and the establishment dates, the distribution of academics, the general student distribution and the distribution of foreign students were revealed. In addition, the Higher Education Council has examined the status of "Regional Development-Focused" universities for universities established after 2006 within the framework of the Higher Education Specialization and Mission Differentiation Project in the Black Sea Region. The Higher Education Board (YÖK) and the Turkish Statistical Authority (TÜIK) data base have been used by statistics. In the maping phase, the ArcGIS program and Microsoft Excel were used.
