Abstract:

This research was conducted in order to examine the current situation of persons with disabilities who have passed the age of compulsory education. The research was planned according to the case study pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The research was conducted on seven families with adult children with disabilities on a voluntary basis. The data of the study were collected by interview technique and semi-structured interview form was used in the research. The obtained data were evaluated by content and descriptive analysis. As a result of the research this study reviews that persons with disabilities have moderate and severe disability degrees and received services from a university-affiliated educational rehabilitation center in the past; families have problems about accessibility and food during their children's education life; and the education of their children contributes to the academic, daily life and social skills of their children. In addition, all families are concerned about the future of their children, so they demand to establish nursing homes for persons with disabilities and they point out the need for an intensive lifelong education for their children with disabilities, they also state that it is important to organize social activities that their children can participate in comfortably.
