FeTeMM (STEM) yaklaşımı son yıllarda dünyada ve Türkiye’de öğretim programlarında yer almaya başlamış ve giderek artan bir hızla okullarda uygulanmaya başlanmıştır. Bu yaklaşımın uygulanmasından doğrudan etkilenecek olan ise öğrenciler olacaktır. Bu nedenle öğrencilerin FeTeMM yaklaşımına yönelik ilgileri, bu yaklaşımın başarılı bir biçimde uygulanmasındaki önemli etkenlerden biridir. Buna rağmen öğrencilerin FeTeMM ilgilerine yönelik çalışmaların azlığı dikkat çekicidir. Mevcut çalışmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin FeTeMM ilgisini belirlemeye yönelik olarak geliştirilen FeTeMM İlgi Ölçeği’ni Türkçe’ye kazandırmaktır. Bu amaçla bir pilot bir de asıl çalışma olmak üzere iki çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Pilot çalışmaya 182, asıl çalışmaya 286 ortaokul yedi ve sekizinci sınıf öğrencisi katılmıştır. Ölçeğin psikometrik özelliklerini belirlemek için faktör analizi ve güvenirlik analizleri yapılmıştır. Ölçeğe doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmış ve orijinal ölçekteki faktör sayısına ulaşılmıştır. Ölçeğin alt boyutları alan yazında önerilen sınır değerleri içinde güvenirlik kanıtları sunmuştur. Analizler sonucunda FeTeMM İlgi Ölçeği’nin geçerlik ve güvenilirlik için kabul edilebilir değerlere ulaştığı ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin FeTeMM ilgilerini belirlemeye yönelik olarak kullanılabileceği ortaya çıkmıştır.
Abstract: In recent years, STEM approach has started to be implemented in schools with an increasing speed and it is taking place in the curricula both in the world and in Turkey. Students are the ones who are directly affected from the implementation of this approach. Therefore, students’ interest in STEM is one of the important factors of implementing STEM approach in an effective way. However, limited number of studies investigating students’ STEM interest is noteworthy. The aim of this study is to adapt the STEM Interest Scale, which was developed to assess the interest in STEM, into Turkish. For this purpose, pilot and main studies were conducted. The participants of the studies were 182 and 286 middle school students for the pilot and main, respectively. Factor analyses and reliability analyses were performed to reveal the psychometric properties of the instrument. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed and the data suggested the same number of factors with the original instrument. The sub-dimensions of the scale provided evidence of reliability within the acceptable values. As a result, it was revealed that the STEM Interest Scale reached acceptable values for validity and reliability and could be used to assess the interest of middle school students in STEM.
