Abstract:

‛Umar Nasafī, who is one of the symbol names of the Māturīdī Kalām idea and gained a well-deserved fame in the Islamic world with his ʿaqāʾid treatise, is a person who has put his views in this field more with his tafsir. In this sense, one of the issues he came into contact with was the matter of intercession. The author, who has expressed his views on the subject within the Ahl al-Sunna line, has evaluated the verses that absolutely reject intercession and the verses that conditionally allow it in connection with each other. He has also used hadiths from time to time in his interpretation of these verses. He has included sinful believers in the scope of intercession based on these two primary sources, and has determined the sole criterion of having this right as faith. Accordingly, he argued that the infidels had neither the right to intercede nor to be intercede. He opposed the initial approach to Mu‛tazila, which was stated in some Ahl al-Sunna sources that he rejected intercession, and others that he only assigned it to the promotion of the degrees of believers, and shaped his criticism towards them through this understanding. As well as benefiting from his predecessor, the ulama in some of the statements he brought about on the subject, he inspired his successor, the scholars in some of his explanations.
