Abstract:

This study aims to reveal the teachers’ opinions on the weekly and weekend application of support and training courses (DYK) which began to be implemented in the 2014-2015 educational year in Turkey and in the short term the participation increased. The research is designed in the model. The data was collected from 19 people using a semi-configured interview technique. Imaginary analysis techniques are used in the analysis of data. The research finds that weekends DYKs are more effective in improving students’ academic achievements than weekends DYKs. The advantage of the weekly DYKs is the student continuity. During the weekly DYKs, the negative effects such as fatigue and nutrition appear in the weekend DYKs, the problem of continuousness appears in the week. The reduction of the number of weekly lessons hours and the opening of skills courses such as art and sport will also be useful in the DYKs, it was presented as a recommendation for the improvement of the DYKs. In the weekends, students and teachers have been given solutions to the problems that they experience in the social sense, and they have been given suggestions to prevent the student’s inconsistency. The results of the research are expected to be a guide to the directors, teachers, students and guardians related to the courses, including the Ministry of National Education.
