Hayvansal üretim faaliyeti, toplumun ihtiyaç duyduğu hayvansal kaynaklı temel gıdaların üretim yeri olması, aile işgücünün değerlendirilmesi, işletmelere nakit akışı sağlaması ve kırsal göçün azaltılması bakımından büyük öneme sahiptir. Bu nedenle dünyada birçok ülkede hayvansal üretimin arttırılması ve geliştirilmesi için kamu tarafından çeşitli desteklemeler yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Van İli Damızlık Sığır Yetiştiricileri Birliğine üye olan ve olmayan süt sığırcılığı işletmelerinde hayvansal üretime yönelik olarak yapılan desteklerden faydalanma durumları ve buna etki eden sosyo demografik ve işletmecilik faktörlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın ana materyalini, Van İli Damızlık Sığır Yetiştiricileri Birliğine üye olan ve olmayan toplam 178 işletmeden toplanan anket verileri oluşturmaktadır. İşletmelerin hayvancılık desteklerinden faydalanma durumlarına etki eden faktörler Sıralı Probit Model ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada işletmelerin %16.29’unun hiçbir hayvancılık desteğinden faydalanmadığı, %37.64’ünün bir, %35.39’unun iki ve %10.67’sinin üç ve üzeri destekten faydalandığı belirlenmiştir. Model sonuçlarına göre DSYB’ne üye olmak, toplam gelir içinde süt sığırcılığı payının artıyor olması, traktöre sahip olmak, arazi büyüklüğü, yem bitkileri üretimi yapıyor olmak, suni tohumlama yaptırıyor olmak ve uzmanlardan destek alıyor olmanın faydalanılan hayvancılık desteği sayısını arttırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlara göre, DSYB’ne üye olan, tarımsal yeniliklere açık olan ve pazara yönelik üretim yapan işletmelerin daha fazla sayıda hayvancılık desteğinden faydalandıkları söylenebilir.
Livestock production has a great role in terms of providing food for the population, exploiting the family labor, sustaining a regular cash flow, and mitigating the migration from rural to urban areas. For this reason, many countries have their own support programs aimed at increasing and improving agricultural production. The study aims at determining the rate of producers who benefit from government supports provided to increase and improve agricultural production and the effects of socio-economic and demographic characteristics on this rate. The data were collected from 178 dairy cattle farms, in which half of them (89 farms) were the members of the Cattle Breeders Association in Van Province. The ordered probit model was used in determining the effect of socio-economic and demographic factors on the rate of producers, who benefitted from government support. The findings indicated that out of all producers, 16.29% did not benefit from the supports at all, while 37.64%, 35.39%, and 10.67% benefitted from the supports once, twice, and three times and more, respectively. The ordered probit model results showed that the increase in the share of dairy cattle income in total income, owning a tractor, land size, having forage crops, applying artificial insemination, and taking help from the specialists increased the rate of producers, who benefitted from the supports. Given the obtained results, it can be said that producers, who are members of Cattle Breeders Association, have a tendency to agricultural innovations and produce for the market and benefit more from livestock supports.
